Healing for a Nation

Dear Praying Friends,

The 17th Ebola outbreak in the D R Congo is already the largest in Congo’s history, with over 5,300 confirmed cases and over 2,500 deaths as of August 19. The epidemic remains concentrated in Eastern Congo. Containment is being hampered by health worker infections and staffing shortages.

This new Bundibugyo species has no proven vaccine and is occurring in areas of armed conflict and population displacement. Health facilities have been attacked, distrust of local authorities persists, and cultural burial practices have interfered with containment efforts.

Our ministry in the Equator Province has not been affected so far. Our return to Mbandaka is not determined due to travel restrictions imposed by the US government on Americans returning from the DR Congo.

The efforts in Mbandaka are expanding and increasing, particularly through the use of Proclaimers—audio Bibles. Pray that this will yield abundant fruit for God’s Glory. May the Word of God spread and deliver healing and salvation to the Congolese people.

“He sent out his word and healed them, snatching them from the door of death.” - ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭107‬:‭20‬ ‭NLT‬‬

While the future of the present situation in the DRC remains uncertain, we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on that which is unseen- looking to the One who can bring healing to a nation.

“So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.” - ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4‬:‭18‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“On each side of the river grew a tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, with a fresh crop each month. The leaves were used for medicine to heal the nations.”

- Revelation‬ ‭22‬:‭2‬ ‭NLT‬‬
