URGENT PRAYER NEEDED!

Dear Friends & Family, 

A humanitarian crisis in Eastern D R Congo is increasing daily. Hundreds have been killed, and hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians have been displaced and are struggling to survive in very dire circumstances as fighting escalates around them. A highly disciplined and well-armed rebel group called M23 is systematically occupying major cities in the mineral-rich provinces of North and South Kivu. The D R Congo government has accused Rwanda of backing the rebels, thus risking regional warfare. Rwanda denies supporting M23.

Mass protests erupted in Kinshasa on Tuesday against Western and African embassies, including the US Embassy. They are perceived to be supporting Rwanda. The Rwandan and Ugandan Embassies were pillaged and burned. 

The UN Security Council, the 16-member Southern Africa Development Community (SADC), the US, and the European countries have called on Rwanda to cease its support and for the M23 to withdraw its forces.
