An Unexpected Arrival

We hope you had a wonderful Resurrection Day, taking time with family and friends to reflect on Jesus’ journey to the cross and His victory over death. Thank you for the meaningful role you play in helping share the Gospel around the world, especially here in the DR Congo.
We’re grateful for your prayers and financial support, and we wanted to share a recent update on how your partnership is making an impact.

On March 27th, Ron and Doris returned to Kinshasa in the DRC. just before midnight. It was the most surreal arrival they had ever experienced. As they descended, an individual went around the plane taking people's temperatures, and upon arrival, they were bused to a tent where officials were given their negative Covid results, and then they proceeded to do another nasal swab Covid test. They walked to immigration and through the health department control. At the baggage collection area, their luggage was the last to clear airport security.
A few weeks prior, a 9 pm to 5 am curfew was imposed and was still in effect; only people with valid reasons were allowed on the street. During their 20-mile drive to the guesthouse, they went through 11 well-armed police roadblocks and arrived at 3:00 am, exhausted but still awake enough to find their beds. It was quite the welcome back to their DRC home.

Before this, they spent their last month in the USA presenting the River Village Project and RWI’s need for a canoe, motors, materials, and supplies to take the Gospel and Farming skills to pastors and farmers along the Congo River.

By God's grace, you responded very generously and quickly, providing the needed $21,000. Praise God for His goodness!
A 55-foot dugout canoe has been purchased, and the team is outfitting the canoe, preparing for trips to the villages with the pastors.

Stay tuned for a recent testimony as to how God is using Proclaimers to spread the Word in villages along the river!
United in Love, Walking in Hope, Persevering in Faith,
Ron, Doris & the RWI team
